Goodies

The following are mostly pictures of the many goodies that I'm currently enjoying, thanks to the generosity of others and my own pre-holiday insanity.

ByKilian sampler set, thanks to Makeup Morsels:

Illamasqua Cream Blush in Betray, thanks to Larie:

Chocomania, The Body Shop's limited edition release, just in time for Valentine's Day

A lot more blush! Thanks to Tracy and her blog sale and her big heart:

My first Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Polish in Piu Mosso as well as some delicious perfume samples, thanks to Carrie:

Pour La Victoire flats I rejected pre-holiday but caved to later:

My pre-ban order from Solstice Scents, fueled by Larie's review:

And at last, some CB I Hate Perfume samples I ordered before Christmas. I've been dying to try this stuff for YEARS.

Will try to review some of these items soon. Right now I'm enjoying my second glass of red wine and reluctantly thinking about the to-do list for tomorrow. What have you enjoying lately?

  2. Guh. Today is a very, very good day in the blogosphere. (Or perhaps a very bad day - I keep seeing thing that I feel like I "need"!!) :P

Anxiously awaiting your frag reviews; I've been really curious about CB I Hate Perfume and By Killian, too. I'm off to force myself to return to my notes, because I keep scrolling back up this page and it seems like an extremely inadvisable idea to do so.

(Those flats! That polish! Those blushers! WHY IS YOUR TASTE SO IMPECCABLE, IT IS HURTING MY BRAIN.)

    (My braaaaain!)

    1. Time for you to sign up for a Twitter account, Tracy! I was lucky to have been online when the blog sale went live. Bet Tracy had to tell 100 people it was already gone.

Hope you got your wine at least!

    2. And by "it", I meant Bite of an Apple. (I just assume everyone wanted that, lol.)

    1. I know, I soooo regretted not getting Bite of an Apple way back when. :DDD

RBL costs an arm and a leg to ship to Canada. I have to spend almost $90 in one shot to make it worth while. My plan was to go to the RBL boutique in NYC some day and buy up a storm! lol

  6. CHOCOMANIA OH MY GOD DO WE HAVE THAT I WILL BE CHECKING AS SOON AS I CAN GET TO A BODY SHOP!!1111!!!

CB I Hate Perfume has been on my 'to do' list for years as well. I'll be interested to hear what you think of them.

    1. I didn't expect you to get all excited about Chocomania! Learn something new every day. ;)

So far I'm liking In The Library. You'll like it, too, if you like the musty smell of old books and leather armchairs.

    2. I love chocolate fragrances. I hate the smell of old books though.

    3. It's a lot more leathery than bookish, but the book smell is definitely there. I guess that rules it out!

  7. Those Pour La Victoire flats are GORGEOUS. I really want to buy a pair, but don't know if I can justify the price at the moment... (Do you love how it's okay for me to spend like, $500 a month on cosmetics, but not more than $100 on shoes?)

Is that the Bite of an Apple blush? I was OBSESSED with it when it came out. :D From one blush fiend to another, you are gonna LOVE IT.

I really wanna try more RBL nail polishes (I have the three from the Spongebob Squarepants collection, lol), but it's so expensive for shipping from their website. I might have to do some scoping on eBay...

GOD, YOU ARE SUCH AN ENABLER.

And I totally hauled from Lush and Bath & Body Works today. You were right about my Chinese New Year money. :P I'm currently really enjoying Lush's Dirty Springwash Shower Gel. :)

    1. From one enabler to another: pffffffft. LOL I demand that you show me your haul so that I can take my turn drooling and sighing in intense longing!

I wouldn't have bought the PLV flats had it not been on clearance at Winners. It's a way of weaning myself off the beauty purchases for a while. And SO agree re: RBL. I have plans for the RBL boutique when I hit up NYC next time. PLANS, I tell you.

    1. It is SUPER smooth. It's the creamiest blush I've ever tried. You need it!

  9. Oh can't wait to see a review of the gel blush. I'm loving Betray at the moment

    1. Isn't it so great?!? :D

The gel blush is like if Benetint was in a gel form. I loved Benetint's colour but found the liquid difficult to handle and blend. A gel version of it would be fantastic and this pot is kind of like what that might be like.

  10. I was so close to getting those Pour La Victoire flats but then I put them back. Now I kinda wish I hadn't.

    1. I actually debated getting them about three times and finally did it when they went on clearance! I was lucky they still had this pair in 7.5 (the last one).

  11. Aaaahhhh there is so much gorgeousness in this post :P Those flats, Piu Mosso, those smellies... :P Can't wait to hear what you think of the CB I hate Perfume and Solstice Scents. Also, I didn't know gel blushes were ever made! How interesting.

    1. I was surprised by the gel blush, too! But of course Tracy the Master Blush Fiend would know and own one!

    1. So true. And we all know exactly what each other likes and doesn't, thanks to very specific posts and tweets. :)

I almost said no to the flats because I felt like it was time to leave bows and sequins behind. Then it was like, "NAAAAAAAAAAH. These are PRETTY."

  14. I'm dribbling a little of that cream Illamasqua blush...

    1. We don't have Illamasqua in Canada, so I love it extra on top of loving it so very much in the first place. I think it's worth the tiny splurge, Claire. ;)

  15. My blush ban must be getting to me because all I see is blush, blush & more blush! Betray looks like such a nice shade - I lovelovelove Illamasqua cream blushers!

    1. Your eyes are not deceiving you -- there are FOUR blushers in there! Be strong, Stacey! Perhaps some shoe-shopping will take your mind off. ;)

  16. I wonder how you found RBL? I have a few and I like them, but I can't say that they get much use, so I don't think I love them. I want to love them. They aren't cheap so they should get more play I would think. But it's not happening. Ugh, I need some sort of nail color therapy, this sounds psychological doesn't it?

    1. I swatched one finger today and the formula is AMAZING. Piu Mosso is a one-coater. And the colour is stunning. A micro-fine swirling mass of deep purple, fine gold shimmer and hints of blue. Siiiiigh.

Which colours do you have? I've browsed the website and definitely don't love all of them, though there are quite a few that I like.

    2. I have Plie, OM, Pepto Pink, and Scrangie. I got them during the sale and I wasn't sure to get. I sort of wished I had gotten other ones. The formula is a tad thicker for the creams. I thought go with some basics so you won't be sorry. Ha on me.

    3. The shades I want next are Russian Black and the night sky/under the stars one. I mangled both names, I think, but you know what I mean. :)

For basics, I think I'll just stick to brands like Dior that has a solid formula and produce the classic colours. For RBL, a-England and some other niche brands, I'll hunt down the unique ones. God, the things we do for NAIL POLISH, huh?

  17. Forgot to follow up about the By Kilian samples! How are you liking those?

    1. My secondary impression is the same as my initial one at the department store! I'm not crazy about the more girly scents like Prelude to Love and Love, but Cruel Intentions and Back to Black are definitely enjoyable. Not sure yet if there's any I like so much as to invest in a bottle of. The black bottles are so deliciously different from other perfume bottles that I want one just to display!

  18. Oooh pretty things :) Yay!! Love the look of the Illamasqua blush, how could Larie part with it?? And what are your thoughts on Piu Mosso? I still haven't given it another chance, but I've been meaning to - I just want to choose a couple of nice sunny days so I can appreciate the shimmer and then be sure in my decision to keep it. If I try it on again and the pretty shimmer is once again nowhere to be found, I'm gonna be PIIIIIISSED. LOL

    1. Larie didn't know how great it was until it came to me! I think she needs to get one for herself. :D

I only swatched one finger with Piu Mosso and the formula is AMAZE. But I find myself leaning with your opinion that the marvellous shimmers and colours aren't discernible right away. I have to try it again like you and won't be pissed but satisfied that my curiosity has been met at least!
