Wonders of LUSH Golden Wonder Bath Bombs

I've always hated LUSH and the smell you can smell even before you see the store. But one day, Ashley of Make Up Kismet tweeted this -- and I found myself hauling home six LUSH bath bombs, four of which were the Golden Wonder.

I think that it's supposed to look like a present, though to me it looks like a cake.

After giving away two of these as presents, I decided that a lazy Sunday afternoon was the perfect time to throw a Golden Wonder into the bath and let magic happen.

It seems rather wasteful to throw an entire bomb for just one bath, but one almost wasn't enough for me.

First, it fizzes and foams wonderfully, releasing the fresh, oceanic aroma as it does so.

Then the tiny golden stars emerge as the bomb begins to melt.

And the water turns a brilliant aquamarine blue.

It was exactly what I needed today, as I missed summer and tropical weather so much I looked up flights to various destinations on a whim. For 30 minutes, I let myself turn into a prune in the bath, played my new favourite song on repeat and pretended that I was in the ocean again.

The Golden Wonder doesn't seem to be available anymore but there are a tonne of other bath bombs to choose from. Are you a fan of LUSH and bath bombs? How do you relax when it's cold outside and your mind is on anything but laundry and other dreadful tasks at hand?

    1. I think we should have a few of these in stock for those snowy days when you want to laze in a hot bath with a glass of whiskey or red wine in hand, listening to some soothing music while your fave candle burns nearby...

      Convinced yet? lol ;)

  3. OMG with that song that must've been such a great experience. I've always wanted to try bath bombs but I guess their name alone made me imagine a scary bubbly mess. Must try it out now!

  6. This post totally makes me want to take baths... except that I haven't taken a bath in the last 20 years. :P Bath bombs look so much fun, though! :( Maybe I will add that to my New Year's Resolutions -- take baths!

    1. I love baths but I hate cleaning the tub frequently. They are awfully fun and really worth the hassle, though. I'm always going to keep bath bombs in stock now. I'm still happy and relaxed even now. Try, Denise!

  7. Oooooh! Looks like fun and I love the smiley face created in the water (coincidence? Hmmm!) While I love the idea of these bombs, I never take baths (hello - no time?!) but you make a strong case for these cuties!

    1. Haha, I didn't notice that it was a smile but I'm smiling now! lol Eugenia, I'm surprised that you of all people don't take lovely, self-pampering, indulgent, fragrant, relaxing baths!!! With the right music and candles, it's better than going to a spa. :)

    2. Liz, you'll think of me when you're the mom of a 17 1/2 year old, who has a very, very hectic social & academic life....and a husband who can be quite demanding at times (but dang - I love that guy!)....then you'll understand why I don't have time for a long leisurely bath (but trust me, it's not out of choice that I don't take baths....love the sound of some self-pampering!) :)

    3. Doesn't have to be baths but we could all use a break from caring for others to care about ourselves. Hope you get some much-needed Eugenia time in the near future. Your daughter and husband are lucky to have you!

  8. Did you watch the movie 'Drive' Liz? OMG I loved the soundtrack, with it's hardcore 80's throwback vibe - this song no exception!! Movie however, was so crazy - good (I think...I haven't decided yet) but crazy.

Anyway, I digress. The bath bomb looks SUPER fun, but SUPER scary for us eczema-types unfortunately. If I used this, in a few minutes I'd jump out, flailing madly like the bat-shit crazy steward of Gondor when he lit himself on fire (sorry, just had a LOTR marathon last weekend lol). BUT thankfully for you, you do not have this issue and therefore should enjoy these lovely treats to their fullest! Lucky gal :)

    1. That's where the song is from! I watched Drive on the plane and have been obsessed with the soundtrack since. (Really, just the first three songs but the music MADE the movie.)

Aww, I'm sorry for the eczema-ridden. :( They do have other bombs that aren't as... dramatic. I have a few lavender-scented bombs that are more for relaxing/soothing. I wonder if they're okay for those with skin woes.

And yes, the steward of Gondor was indeed crazy and deserved the fiery demise. I should also watch another LOTR marathon soon. :)

  9. This sounds absolutely wonderful!! I wish I picked up on these and I don't even take baths! More of just a shower girl here, but Hmmm, maybe I should start! I've never tried these ever!

    1. There are other bombs! Dovey @ Cute and Mundane wrote about a Sex Bomb (LOL) that turns the water rosey pink. Looks great! :D

  10. Oh man! LUSH was having a BOGOF sale awhile back for holiday items, and I thought about buying one of these + a Snowcake soap. But the smell in there is just so strong and traffic was crazy that day, so I decided not to go. It looks very magical though! Maybe next year I'll treat myself to a little bit of Golden Wonder :) Love the pictures!

    1. Oh, I didn't know they have BOGOs! I also want Snowcake after reading Monika's post. Next year everyone will have a Golden Wonder, lol. :) Hope you get the chance!

  12. I think I've been to the store in Pasadena, but wasn't too impressed. I guess soaps don't do it for me. But I can understand the luxury of it. Kind of take you away moment.

  13. This is actually possibly THE coolest bath bomb ever! Do you live in the UK? Can you get them in stores over here? Your blog is amazing, totally following! Your reviews are so honest :)

    1. I can't say whether this is the coolest or not -- it's the only one I've tried!

Thanks for the compliment. I live in Canada and am not sure about UK availability.

  14. i recently just used mine but this is one where i found that half wasn't a good enough effect compared to the other bath bombs xD

    1. Half? Like, you used half of a LUSH bomb?

      3 more bombs left! Yippee!

    2. lol yep cuz i'm cheap like that haha i literally cut my bath bombs in half and since my tub isn't that big i don't think it turned out half bad :D

    3. I do wish they were cheaper. CDN$6-8 seems a bit much for one nice bath. I'd like the full experience so I'll throw a whole bomb in one shot, but going forward the baths will be reserved for Very Special Occasions from now on.

  15. I haven't taken a bath (in a tub) for such a long time. But I do love bath bombs, especially the fizzling part! haha
