Guuuuys, I'm dying. So much to do this week. March is going to kill me, but I will do my best to kill it.
Here's a flash post to brighten up the week. I'm really looking forward to spring, and certain seasonal colours have made their way into my consciousness as I scour the earth for the perfect blue/green polish and orange/coral lips. I'm still in a nail polish rut and haven't worn polish in months, but I did temptingly swatch two nail shades at Sephora: Illamasqua Nomad and Nails Inc. Haymarket. In the end I didn't purchase either of them as I felt there were enough similar shades sitting neglected at home. But I seized the opportunity to conduct a comparison with other pale greens, and I think my favourite of the lot is Nomad.
No base or top coats, two coats of each shade, and no staining upon removal.
What kind of colours are you looking at these days?

I like Noman and Haymarket. They remind me of Dior's Spring and Summer last year :-)
ReplyDeleteWas thinking Haymarket looks like Dior St. Tropez. Should have compared those, rats.
DeleteI love Nomad and Haymarket -- the pastel mint shades don't work on my skin =( wish they did!
ReplyDeleteThey're kind of tricky, but I bet they don't look as bad as you think!
DeleteI really like Nomad, too, but I feel like I have something similar. No wait, I don't. I used to. Dang! I like it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm wearing Bossy Boots right now :) It's been a few days already and I went climbing, so it's chipped as hell, but I liked it. I think I'm moving into cheery colors now. Dior St. Tropez next!
Lol! What was similar to Nomad? I think the closest to it I have is Essie Mint Mojito but they might be completely different.
DeleteI want to like Bossy Boots more but it leaves me feeling a bit bleh.
I LIKE THEM ALL! I have something similar to Haymarket, which is my fave of the bunch. But I've been wanting to get a REALLY good mint green shade. Unless something else catches my eye, I think I might go with Essie Mint Candy Apple. :)
ReplyDeleteMint Candy Apple is a classic. :) I have to compare it with the Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet but Mint Candy Apple has an icy quality to it that I like.
DeleteNomad is a stunner, love all of them but I think that one is my favourite. I have Essie Mint Candy Apple and Revlon Minted which are probably my closest counterparts to these shades. I am going to see if I have anything like Bossy Boots in my stash...
ReplyDeleteBossy Boots reminds me a bit of Essie Absolutely Shore mixed with Essie Sew Psyched. It's not my favourite but it does seem kind of spring-y, which is why I included it.
DeleteThis is tough... I think I'd go with Haymarket and Nomad next. As much as I want to try Illamasqua's polishes, Haymark is exactly the shade of blue/green I'm looking for atm!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Birthday month is not allowed to kill you unless it's death by cake, cheese, and wine!
I hope there will be lots of nail polish, cake, cheese and wine on your birthday! :D
DeleteMarch forecast is sucky for the most part, but I will definitely make up for it come April!
Hm... Like them all, but if I had to, I would choose Haymarket. It would look stunning with that Revlon varnish, which I saw in one of your pictures some time ago and assume to be Whimsical, on top. And it reminds me of Chanel Nouvelle Vague a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love my berry colours any time of the year (think Chanel Coco Rouge Shine in Bonheur or Unique or Revlon lip butter in Berry Smoothie), but I want to try something else this spring. I have my eyes on Chanel Coco Rouge Shine in Liberté (yes, these are my absolute favourite lipsticks - sheer but so lively colours on lips, have three so far and love them all!). And it may look really good paired with a certain bright orange blusher by Makeup Forever ;)
I agree with Ashley - no killing of anyone or anything in the birthday month!
Oooh, thanks for the suggestion. I'll layer Whimsical over Dior St. Tropez which is the most similar to Haymarket.
DeleteI'm so upset that I missed out on Chanel Nouvelle Vague. Someone was supposed to send it to me but backed out last minute. :(
I tend to associate berry shades with fall, but it sounds delicious! I've never tried a Coco Rouge Shine but admire the swatches online. And does this mean that you got the orange MUFE blush??? :DDD
I hope you will share pictures. ;)
DeleteReally? That is sad. But there will be other and maybe even almost the same colours this season.
Berry colours are good all year round, at least for me. :D No, not yet anyway. But it is on my "to check" list for my next Sephora visit.
I hope to take lots of pics soooooon!
DeleteI won't be buying any luxe nail polishes this year, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for good swap opportunities. :)
Ha! I also have spring on the brain. Nomad is beautiful. I have Bossy Boots, and while I like the colour it makes my hands look really red. I won't lie, though: I definitely bought it for the name.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the annual cabin fever during March is the absolute worst. *clawing at walls* @______@
DeleteHaha, Bossy Boots sounds sassy. I wish it was a touch brighter and less subdued, but maybe that's just me on the trail of bright! colours! quest.
Good luck this week! I know you can kill it! :)
ReplyDeleteI like them all too haha!
Thanks, Tracy! :D
DeleteI haven't bought nail polish in months and don't want to, but they are all very likeable, lol.
I love mint! I really really want Butter London's Fiver. It's so perfect for spring.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you in March! Fight! WIN!
I'm glad that I don't see Fiver being sold anywhere near me or I might be really tempted!
DeleteThanks for the encouragement! Yes, fight fight fight!!
I have Nomad, Haymarket, and Bossy Boots. :X
ReplyDeleteDo you think I am more of a blush fiend or a nail polish fiend? I am ridiculous.
For some reason, I am really loving lavender and lighter purples right now. But I am also looking at Essie's Avenue Maintain from their Spring collection, and it's this bright cobalt blue. Looks super fun. :)
LOL... I love your ridiculousness. SOMEONE has to be.
DeleteAvenue Maintain looks GORGEOUS. Cobalt blues are my new kryptonite. But I'd much rather have a cobalt blue clothing than nail polish, so that's what's going to happen in spring if I come across the right item! :)
I only have Bossy Boots, which I just got in the past couple months, and I'm pretty stoked to wear it. I just haven't felt that it's been spring-y enough, but it's coming! March signals spring to me, so bring it! I do love mint polishes a lot, even though as a whole I don't like green polish. Strange...
ReplyDeleteThis is the last stretch of winter - we can make it!!
DeleteMarch gives us hellish weather in Toronto, but it's time to look ahead to better times. :) I don't like green shades much either but with emerald being the Pantone colour whatsit this season, I figure we'll see a ton of new greens this year. I'm ready!
It's like your picks are targeted directly for my wallet *___*
ReplyDeleteI agree that Haymarket and Nomad are probably quite dupeable and similar to polishes that have been really popular in the past (For Audrey and Turquoise & Caicos come to mind)
I walk by the Vancouver Louis Vuitton flagship store every day and the window display is currently featuring a gorgeous raspberry patent leather, so I'm determined to find its nail polish match ;)
My sincere apologies to your wallet. -__o
DeleteI don't have T&C but I do have For Audrey. :D
Raspberry patent leather sounds amazing. I haven't looked at fashion in a while but it was my first vice before nail polish and makeup. I'll keep an eye out for the shade for you!
I'll be sure to instagram a photo for you! ;D
DeletePlease do! ;)
DeleteI like Haymarket and Nomad as well, but I think I have some "close enoughs" in my stash as well.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm all into the purples (as always) and sheer nudes and neutrals (a surprise first!)
Looking at nudes leads to quite a quest. It's so difficult trying to find the perfect match for your skin tone. But I must admit it's fun as well. Good luck!
Delete*squeals*!!! I LOVE these types of shades, wifey! They look so great on you! I MUST add all of these to my collection immediately!! :D
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute. :D
DeleteWhen I have more time later, I'm going to go through all my nail polishes by colour families and go through a culling process. Then maybe I can add Nomad to the downsized collection. ;)
So pretty! Now I want to wear springy blue polishes, of which I have...1, I think (Zoya Wednesday), which does make it easy to decide what to wear, ha :)
ReplyDeleteWednesday is an awesome colour! I wanted it but it was too similar to Zoya Bevin, which I LOVE.
DeleteHaymarket is right up my alley - it looks reasonably close to one of my favourites For Audrey. All of your picks are so Spring perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to do another comparison later, but I'm content with For Audrey and don't feel the need to own Haymarket. But it's there for those who can't get enough of the aqua shades. :)
DeleteI actually like them all, but Nomad and Bossy Boots look particularly pretty! I've been meaning to pick up a minty shade like this for the past couple of years now, but never actually get around to buying one for some reason. As soon as the weather warms up, I seem to become obsessed with corals, hot pinks and oranges. Will definitely have to grab a pale green this year, I think.
ReplyDeleteI saw a Sephora SA with Nomad on her nails and it looked spectacular. I really really want it now. :)
DeleteI also love corals, hot pinks and oranges in warm weather. Do you have Essie Mint Candy Apple? That one seems to be the most well-loved pale mint classic. But I think all of the shades would look great on you!
